AWASH RIVER
The Awash River coffee from Ethiopia reminds us of cocoa, dark fruits and golden syrup. This is a medium coffee with high body and acidity which brings an excellent concentration of unique flavour.

Awash River is a curated coffee sourced from smallholder farmers serviced by the river Awash in the Sidamo region of southern Ethiopia. These farmers rely on the great river and its many tributaries to cultivate coffee and sustain their communities.
The Awash carves through almost 750 miles of Ethiopia’s great rift valley, providing a vital water source for millions. Archaeologists believe humans have lived along the river since the dawn of man. Known as “the cradle of humankind”, the middle Awash is home to some of the most important archaeological discoveries in history, including perhaps the most famous hominid fossil ever found: “Lucy”.
In a poetic twist, Ethiopia is also the birthplace of the arabica coffee tree. As farmers started to harvest the wild forest coffee of Southern Ethiopia they, in turn, began to cultivate them on their own land. Nevertheless, wild coffee can still be found throughout Ethiopia and is represented by thousands of distinct varieties, many of which are still cultivated by farmers in Sidamo to this day.

GRIND TYPES EXPLAINED
GRIND TYPES EXPLAINED
Whole bean: Whole bean coffee allows you to grind your own coffee right before brewing, to keep the freshness. Some coffee machines have a grinder built-in, or you can buy one separately.
French Press / Cafetiere: French Press or Cafetiere coffee uses a coarse grind. Grounds are separated from the coffee and there is no filter involved, so the oils from the coffee remain.
Filter / V60 / Kalita: Filter coffee grind is medium, like sea salt, and is made by pushing high-pressure water through fine coffee grounds, where the brew drips through a filter.
AeroPress: AeroPress coffee uses a fine grind, and creates a single serving of coffee that drips through a filter to separate the coffee from the grounds.
Espresso / Moka pot: Espresso coffee uses a fine, powdery grind. It has a lower ground to water ratio, and is usually thicker and more intense.
